What is the population of the Mat-Su Valley?

Alaska's Mat-Su Bed & Breakfast Association welcomes you! The main population centers of Wasilla and Palmer are surrounded by the smaller communities of Sutton, Chickaloon, Eureka, Lake Louise, Skwentna, Big Lake, Houston, Willow, Caswell, Deshka, Trapper Creek, Talkeetna and Glennallen.  The combined population of the valley now hovers around 101,000 and covers 25,250 sq miles.

What is there to do in the Mat-Su?

To assist you in planning your trip to the Matanuska Valley we've provided a list of available activities and links to area points of interests.

Our affiliate members provide abundant recreational activities and services for visitors, residents and Alaskan businesses, these include some lodging choices which are not subject to AMSBBA's quality assurance inspections.

Summer activities include world-class salmon fishing, white water rafting, kayaking, hiking, flightseeing, gold panning, horseback riding, ATV rental, visiting dog sled kennels, kayaking for the novice or experienced and trekking on glaciers.

Winter activities include snowmachining, skiing, snowboarding, mushing dog sleds, Northern Lights viewing, and ice fishing.

You can rest assured at our B&Bs! Choose from B&B rooms, suites and cabins, from rustic to luxury. Each friendly B&B has met our quality standards for your comfort and safety. Our inspected and approved Mat-Su bed and breakfasts are in Palmer, Wasilla, Big Lake, Willow and Talkeetna, or along the Glenn Highway Scenic Byway on the way to Glenallen or Wrangell-St. Elias Park.
